Hi everyone,
I hope that everyone is getting going with their new semester. We had a wonderful orientation session where we learned more about the research directions of a number of research faculty in TRSM as well as from current students. I certainly learned a lot and I am now better able to advise incoming students regarding specific researcher interests.
For me, this semester will continue with the transition process to the management of the program belonging to ITM. I am also working with the MBA directors and Murtaza to streamline the governance of all of our grad. programs. We also need to plan a social event with everyone (I think Jen volunteered).

We were tossing a couple of ideas around. One is that it might be a good idea to have brown bag lunches where we bring our lunches and one researcher presents some of their research and then we get a chance to explore these ideas more deeply and interact with the researcher. This could happen regularly once every 2 or 3 weeks. The speakers would be from Ryerson, or guest researchers as the opportunity becomes available.
ReplyDeleteAnother idea was to have a general social night where we pick an off-campus location to get to know each other more and foster a more supportive culture between MMSc years and faculty and students.
What are people excited about?
